Moin, hello and welcome aboard in Hamburg, SynLOG!

SynLOG 2024 Logistics Working Group meeting
SynLOG Arbeitskreis-Logistik-Sitzung 2024

We spent six entertaining hours on the Elbe and in the harbour with the SynLOG logistics working group.

Thank you to our long-standing partner SynLOG for allowing us to contribute to the content of the first 2024 Logistics Working Group meeting. For those who don’t know SynLOG, it’s the joint initiative of the ‘Herstellerverband Haus & Garten e.V.’ and the ‘Industrieverband Garten (IVG) e.V.’. SynLOG supports its members from the German construction and gardening industry in all matters relating to logistics. With the theme of ‘sea freight development’, we spent six hours travelling together on the launch ‘Diplomat’ on the river Elbe and in the inner harbour. And there wasn’t a dull moment!

In addition to the 30 or so SynLOG participants, the following experts were also on board: Daniel Jahn from the Hamburg Port Authority HPA (reported on the prospects for the Port of Hamburg, its opportunities and risks – “I’m not worried about the future of the Port of Hamburg, on the contrary!”); shipping analyst Jan Tiedemann from the industry service Alphaliner (reported on the situation of sea freight carriers and gave a market update – “the container fleet is larger than ever before and still almost fully occupied”) and the logistics journalist and communications consultant Behrend Oldenburg, who presented the port tour – “with the high water, the largest container ships in the world with a capacity of 24,000 TEU are also coming to Hamburg without any problems. And that’s what I’m showing you today!”).

Antonios Rigalos, Stephan Schiller and Kevin Feuser reported on news from and about XSTAFF: “We have secured the necessary sea freight capacities for our members in good time – and want to focus more on hinterland connections in future as well!”

SynLOG Managing Director Markus Schering concludes: “The current high utilisation of sea freight capacities with the corresponding rates shows quite clearly the advantage of the cooperation we have concluded with XSTAFF!”
